hey mom what's for dinner?

How about BEEFARONI???

Now, I certainly don't mean that mushy junk in the can. No offense to anyone but you can make beefaroni at home and your kids will LOVE it! It reheats so well (if there are leftovers) and it can be made in one pot for easy cleanup. What is better than that?

Personally, I use lean ground beef but you can make this with ground turkey or a mix of both. Lean beef isn't horrible but I understand the health-conscious may not approve of beef. Moderation is key!

Here is how I make beefaroni. After the recipe is a link to the recipe with pictures on ehow. While you are there, check out some of my other time-saving family favorites.

First, put up a pot of water to boil the elbow macaroni in.
Use a decent sized pot for this. You are going to cook the whole pound box of elbows. Remember that since it will be in a sauce, elbows should not be cooked all the way. Al dente is perfect.

After elbow macaroni are cooked, drain and rinse. Leave in colander.

Next step is to brown about 1 to 1 1/2 pounds of lean ground beef. When all the pink is gone, drain off any fat that remains.

Sprinkle beef with 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
Add 1 jar prepared marinara sauce. Your choice here. There are plenty on the market. From healthy choice to store brand, whatever you prefer will work.
Add 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.

Stir together and heat til bubbly.
Add the elbow macaroni and your beefaroni is ready to serve!

This entire meal can be made in under 1 hour!! Serve with a salad and italian bread and you have a meal.
